Security

Some general tips for internet security (incomplete and in progress).

Web Browsing

Desktop/Computer

Use the Brave Browser since it automatically blocks trackers and ads. Plus it is identical to Chrome and it upgrades you to secure HTTPS connections.

Firefox is another great choice. Although you'll want to install a few browser extentions (see below) to block trackers, ads, and enforce HTTPS. All of the recommended extentions are available on Chrome as well.

Extensions

Phone

Download the Brave Browser for your phone. It is identical to Chrome except it automatically blocks ads and trackers. Plus it forces all websites to use https.

Search

Use DuckDuckGo.

Google records everything you search. Use DuckDuckGo search instead (you can set it as your browser's default search). You can also install their browser extension. If you ever want to run a Google search just add "g!" before or after your DuckDuckGo search. There are plenty of other "bangs" that make DuckDuckGo searches better than Google!
